The recent COVID-19 pandemic has really shone a light on the importance of sanitation. While we all use more disinfectant than we have in the past and try to wash our hands more thoroughly and frequently than before, we should also give some attention to the cleanliness of our vehicles.
For some, their vehicle is just a way to get to work and back. For others, it's a shuttle to get the kids to school and practice. For others still—like Uber or Lyft drivers—it's a means to an income. Whatever you use your vehicle for, keeping it clean and sanitized just makes good sense.
In this post, we are going to look at ways you can keep your vehicle safe and sanitized all year round.

Most of the common auto maintenance tasks that you can do at home (e.g., changing oil, tire rotations, brake pads, etc.) require you to lift your vehicle. This is most often achieved with a jack. When used improperly, however, jacks can lead to injury—potentially serious injury. In this post, we are going to show you the right way to safely lift your vehicle.
Start on Level, Solid Ground
In a perfect world, your cement garage floor is the perfect place to lift your vehicle. Not everyone has a garage, though. In the case of a flat tire, the shoulder of the road might be all you have to work with. In the absence of a garage or even paved driveway, look for the most solid and level ground you can find. That means no loose dirt, gravel, or rocky surfaces that could undermine the integrity of your jack and/or jack stands.

Keyless ignition for cars is nothing new. Although it has gained popularity in modern vehicle makes and models since about the early 2000s, the concept of a push start ignition actually dates back to 1911, when Charles Kettering of Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company modified his power switch from the electric cash register to work with car engines previously started by crank. The first car company to introduce this revolutionary technology was Cadillac, in 1912.
While this certainly simplified the act of starting a car (and made it much safer, as well), the technology was eventually supplanted by the key start we are familiar with today. When it was introduced in 1949 by Chrysler, it was considered a safety innovation, as it prevented children from accidentally starting a vehicle with the mere push of a button.

The world is full of beautiful automobiles that can dazzle you with flashy paint, innovative features, and that new car smell, but ultimately, you need a set of wheels that's going to get you from point A to point B safely and efficiently. This means engaging in comparison shopping to find the make and model that best suits your needs and preferences, within your budget.
The process begins by examining cars on paper, so to speak. Before you ever take a test drive, you need to do some research to narrow your options. You'll want to compare specs and consumer reviews to get a good idea of whether specific vehicles are even worth test driving, or if they're unlikely to suit you. From there, you can head to the dealerships to test your top picks.
