Best SUVs smAccording to U.S. News & World Report, a vehicle’s reliability cannot be determined until it's been driven for a fair amount of time, a primary factor upon which J.D. Power’s Quality and Reliability ratings are based on. The organization uses owner feedback from both short-term and long-term owners to clearly define the most reliable cars each year.

SUVs You Can Rely on in 2023

J.D. Power and Associates is a global powerhouse in consumer insights, analytics, and advisory services, leading the industry for over 50 years. As such, the SUVs they’ve deemed most reliable for 2023 are undoubtedly vehicles you can depend on for years to come. Their list includes the following models:

The 2023 Lexus GX

The Lexus GX isn’t the most powerful SUV on the market, and it doesn’t provide the smoothest ride, but it has earned a reputation as a brilliant, dependable off-road car. It comes equipped with an abundance of safety features, and drivers also rave about its premium 17-speaker audio system.

J.D. Power has given the 2023 Lexus GX a Quality and Reliability rating of 86/100, and the car’s price currently runs anywhere between $53,466 and $68,909.

The 2023 Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner is a tried-and-true SUV that has been on the market longer than most others, and much of that staying power is in part thanks to its reliability.

It doesn’t feature its user controls in a state-of-the-art touchscreen, and although some may see that lack of high-tech features as a fatal drawback, others love it. Loyal 4Runner buyers aren’t looking for fancy gadgets. They want real dials, buttons, and physical, working controls, and the 4Runner delivers.

J.D. Power gives the 2023 Toyota 4Runner a Quality and Reliability rating of 87/100. Its current cost lands between $39,555 and $54,020.

The 2023 Chevrolet Blazer

The Chevy Blazer is undisputedly one of the best-selling SUVs of all time, and much of the reason behind such immense popularity is its unrelenting dependability.

The pros of the Blazer include distinct, sporty styling and a fun, user-friendly touchscreen infotainment system, though, to be fair, it’s also loaded with low-end materials, and the ride it offers isn’t necessarily the most comfortable or spacious.

Even with that said, however, dedicated Chevy Blazer fans point out that the vehicle’s reliability keeps them returning to each updated model.

The 2023 Blazer has earned a J.D. Power reliability score of 86/100, and it sports a price tag of anywhere from $33,348 to $51,222.

The 2023 Kia Soul

Known for its distinct, boxy design, the Kia Soul is just as popular for its blend of functionality and style. Pros include lots of headroom and a whopping 62.1 cubic feet of cargo space with folded rear seats, though its biggest drawback is the lack of a turbocharged engine.

Regardless of such, its reliability continues to match its safety, earning it a reliability score from J.D. Power of 87/100. Compared to the other models on this list, the Soul won’t set you back as harshly, given that its price ranges only from $18,961 to $25,772.

Dependable SUVs of 2023

When you intend to spend your hard-earned money on a major investment like an SUV, you want to be able to depend on it to get you where you need to go when you need to, without issue. J.D. Power’s most reliable SUVs of 2023 each fit the bill superbly.
